The Look: Tamillow, Louis

Well, whenever I think about a "fashionable" man, I usually think of a guy wearing a suit. The suit is a classic style for men that has stood through the test of time. Naturally then, what better clothing item to represent men's style than a suit? So, I went in search of stylish suits for men and apparently plaid suits are back in style. According to AskMen.com, the plaid suit is "no longer reserved for old man and lumberjacks." The above image is an example of a windowpane plaid suit. This suit is designed for those who don't want to stand out too much in a crowd due to its subtle pattern and slim fit. That sounds good to me. I hate standing out in crowds.

So I guess a suit would hold significant value to me because it can be worn for a plethora of occasions. Formal events, parties, business meetings, you name it, the suit will allow you to look stylish. That is if you get a nice enough suit, of course. A suit has a level of sophistication to it that makes it stylish in many occasions. The clothes you wear say something about you and when you wear a suit you want to give off an aura of sophistication or power, depending on the type of suit you wear. So the versatility of a suit can lend you power in the boardroom or a sophisticated, perhaps even sexy, look at a party. Ultimately, if you can wear a trendy enough suit that suits you and look good in it (no belly bulge over the waistline or any such silliness) you just might be able to pass off as stylish and project an idea of just what kind of person you are.

fashion is for women and style is for men. The fashionable woman buys clothes frequently and wears them just a few times so she can dress in the mode of the day. The role of the male of the species, on the other hand, has been for the last three hundred years to provide a good looking backdrop to that extravagance. A man ideally wears well cut clothing that remains perfectly appropriate for decades.

Louis, you somewhat contradict yourself by saying that you don't like to stand out in crowds and yet you believe that when you wear a suit, you "you want to give off an aura of sophistication or power. . ." Is there something that you're not sharing with us o@? I'm just kidding about that last bit, but I I do agree with you and James when you say that the simplicity of the "suit," though it comes in many shapes, styles and forms, is a a look that really does withstand the test of time; it will be "in" for years to come.
